Scaling and Root Planing
Scaling and root planing is a deep cleaning procedure. Scaling removes plaque and tartar from below the gum line. Root planing smoothes the surface of the tooth root, helping the gums reattach to the tooth.
Root Surface Debridement
This procedure is similar to a scaling a root planing, using a special electronic tool. The tool emits ultrasonic vibrations to break up hardened plaque and tartar from the teeth.
